A Telangana man was brutally “shot” dead by US cops

The deceased man’s name is Mohammad Nizamuddin. His father has requested External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to help bring his son’s body back to Mahbubnagar.

New Delhi: A 29-year-old man from Telangana’s Mahbubnagar district was allegedly shot and killed by police in Santa Clara, California, following a scuffle with his roommate, his family members said on Thursday (September 18, 2025).

The deceased, Mohammad Nizamuddin, had gone to the US to pursue his master’s degree and had been living in Santa Clara since 2016. According to his father, Mohammad Hasnuddin, he was informed on Thursday (September 18, 2025) morning that his son had been shot by Santa Clara police and his body was being kept at a hospital in the city.

Mr. Hasnuddin requested External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to help bring his son’s body back to Mahbubnagar. “I don’t know why the police shot and killed him,” he said in a letter to Jaishankar on September 18. In his appeal, he requested the minister to direct the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Indian Consulate General in San Francisco to investigate the circumstances of his death and arrange for his son’s body to be brought back to Mahbubnagar.

Amjad Ullah Khan, spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), shared the father’s letter on X, urging the foreign minister to intervene and provide all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
