Mumbai-Pune Expressway: A gas tanker overturned near the Adoshi Tunnel in Raigad district on Wednesday, February 3, causing a massive traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway that lasted for over 15 hours. Commuters faced significant difficulties, expressing their anger and frustration on social media.
According to media reports, at around 6:15 PM, a speeding CNG gas tanker lost control on a slope near the tunnel and overturned on the road.
As a safety precaution, authorities immediately stopped traffic on one of the busiest highways connecting Mumbai and Pune. However, many commuters remained stranded on the highway for hours “without any assistance or updates.”
Netizens shared pictures and videos of the incident on social media, criticizing the authorities for poor management and questioning the continued toll collection despite the prolonged traffic jam.
Stranded on Mumbai–Pune Expressway due to a CNG truck accident. I’m a lady travelling with two kids—no water, no washroom access, no assistance, traffic not moving at all. Shocked by the careless and inhuman handling. Where are the highway authorities & gatekeepers? 🚨 pic.twitter.com/mAJrhkOC75
