Pakistan is considering withdrawing from the Asia Cup 2025 and will make a final decision on Wednesday. A statement issued by the PCB at midnight stated that discussions are ongoing regarding Pakistan’s participation.
Tensions escalated when, after winning the second match of the Asia Cup, the Indian players refused the traditional handshake with Pakistani players and even went into the dressing room, closing the door. The Pakistani coach expressed disappointment over this. Following this, the PCB began discussions on withdrawing from the 2025 Asia Cup.
The statement said, “This decision will be taken keeping Pakistan’s interests in mind.”
This statement follows the ICC’s rejection of Pakistan’s demand to remove referee Andy Pycroft over the handshake controversy.
Now the question arises whether the Asia Cup is possible without Pakistan, or if the matches will continue even after they leave the tournament.
