Nancy Guthrie missing case: As investigators search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the internet has also launched its own investigation. Despite major developments in the case this week, Nancy Guthrie, the mother of US television host Savannah Guthrie, remains missing. Late Tuesday night, authorities detained a man for questioning and executed a search warrant at a home in Rio Rico, Arizona—about 60 miles south of Tucson, near the US-Mexico border.
Still, as law enforcement agencies continue their work, online users are trying to decode blurry surveillance footage and assemble theories—often based on incomplete or unverified information.
Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping
Earlier, the FBI released doorbell camera video from outside Nancy Guthrie’s home, taken on the night she disappeared. The footage showed a masked, armed man near her front door. According to CNN, engineers from Google—which owns Nest—helped recover the data several days later.
What Authorities Confirmed
According to CNN, law enforcement detained a man during a traffic stop about an hour south of Tucson. The man was taken in for questioning based on investigative leads but has not been charged. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the person in custody is the same person seen in FBI surveillance footage.
Separately, FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is investigating and eliminating “persons of interest.”
Authorities are also serving a search warrant at a home in Rio Rico, where a road was closed during the operation. A woman at the scene told CNN that her home was being searched and investigators were investigating her son-in-law, whom she said “had nothing to do with the case.” Authorities are also searching a vehicle in the area.
Despite all this, a law enforcement source told CNN that Nancy Guthrie has not yet been found.
Deputies have also searched the neighborhood of one of Nancy’s daughters, Annie Guthrie. Nancy reportedly went to her daughter’s house for dinner the evening before she was reported missing.
