Hai Zindagi, directed by Ajay Ram, is a courageous attempt to spotlight a sensitive issue rarely addressed in Indian cinema.

Mumbai: Hai Zindagi, directed by Ajay Ram, is a courageous attempt to spotlight a sensitive issue rarely addressed in Indian cinema. Released on 14 November 2025 under the banners of C.R. Films and Sunil Agarwal Films, the film raises an important question: why are Indian laws not gender-neutral when reality often defies stereotypes?

The story follows Varun (Gaurav Singh), an employee of a wealthy businessman, whose life takes a shocking turn during a party hosted by the boss’s daughter, Palak (Garima Singh), and her friends. What begins as harmless fun turns into a horrifying ordeal when the girls drug and sexually assault him. Varun’s desperate pleas go unheard, and when he approaches the police, he is mocked instead of supported. This marks the beginning of his emotional and legal battle.

Ajay Ram handles the subject with restraint and sincerity. The film’s intense scenes avoid sensationalism, and the background score heightens the emotional impact. Gaurav Singh delivers a powerful performance, portraying fear, trauma, and resilience with conviction. Garima Singh and the supporting cast add depth and realism to the narrative.

With meaningful music and a gripping screenplay, Hai Zindagi challenges societal biases and highlights the urgent need for gender-neutral laws. It is a thought-provoking film that deserves to be watched.
