IMD Forecast: Dense fog covered parts of Delhi on Monday morning. Visuals from Mahipalpur near IGI Airport showed very low visibility due to the fog in the area. According to the IMD, ‘shallow fog’ prevailed in the area on Monday.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the area was recorded at ‘134’, which falls under the ‘moderate’ category.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that dense fog is likely to prevail in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until February 3rd, and in isolated pockets until February 5th during the morning/night hours.
The IMD said, “Dense fog is also likely in isolated pockets over West Uttar Pradesh until February 5th, over West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam and Meghalaya until February 2nd, over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha until February 3rd, and over East Rajasthan during February 3-5, 2026.”
Rain/Snowfall Alert
The IMD said that light to moderate rain/snowfall is likely over the Western Himalayan region, while isolated rainfall is expected over adjoining Northwest and Central India from February 1-3.
