Red Fort Blast: A car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort today killed at least 8 people and injured 24. The vehicle exploded outside Gate Number 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. All the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.
The blast, which occurred in an area popular with tourists, caused several cars to catch fire. At least 20 fire tenders have reached the spot.
Pictures from the area show extensive damage, not just superficial. The area near the Red Fort in Old Delhi is one of the most crowded areas of the National Capital.
The Delhi Police Special Cell has reached the spot. They have cordoned off the blast site. Traffic has been diverted from the Old Delhi areas.
