Factory Fire in China: At least 28 people died after a massive fire broke out at a shoe manufacturing factory in Fujian province, eastern China, on Thursday. A large-scale relief and rescue operation was launched at the site following the incident.

According to state media, multiple fire crews and emergency rescue personnel rushed to the scene immediately after the fire started. The blaze was brought under control after hours of effort, but by then, 28 lives had already been lost.

Officials have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the injured are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, and the administration is conducting a thorough probe into the matter.

According to an AFP report, the fire broke out in the afternoon at the Huiteng Shoe Factory in Jinjiang city, prompting an immediate response from emergency rescue teams. Even after several hours, there were concerns that many people might still be trapped inside the building.

Chinese President Xi Jinping described the incident as one involving “heavy casualties and property loss,” while the state news agency Xinhua later reported the initial death toll as 28.
